Very nice campground. Visitor's center and showers are well kept. A little close to the highway but the noise has not bothered us. Would definitely recommend to those who like to fish on the river or that need a base for day trips to Steamboat Springs and Craig.
Decent state park campground. A little close to the road but road noise is not too bad. As others have noted, there is not much shade however there is a metal shade cover for each campsite protecting the picnic tables from the west sun. River walk is short but nice. Noticed the campground was much busier on the weekend than during the week. Overall, a decent place to camp for visiting the Steamboat area.
The convenience of a camp site with hook up, showers and a nature trail was nice, but there is not much shade in the campground, there are only interpretive programs on weekends, bathrooms are outhouse only unless you walk to the shower building, showers are 25 cents per minute, mosquitos are pretty bad and the worst part is that noise from the nearby highway is constant.
You'd be hard pressed to do worse for a camping experience and it's hard to understand what justifies this campgrounds existence. $7/day/vehicle state park fee with nothing but a small river access section. Nice bathrooms however with pay shower and friendly staff. However there is No shade from trees anywhere and its proximity to the road and flatness to the west allows you to hear traffic leaving Craig and follow it with your ears all the way to Hayden. Will not come back, and would not recommend
Sure wish the state park system would make camping 1/2 price for annual and senior pass holders like it used to be!... especially during the slow weekdays
A beautiful place to camp, we didn't like how we had to pay for the shower time or the extra car. The employees are great.
